Stand out for all the right reasons.

Industrial paint is used across a range of industries, including architectural and construction. Some industrial paints are applied with brushes or rollers. Whereas others are applied with spray systems. Of course, this all depends on the viscosity of the particular paint and what goes into it. A range of substrates can be found inside different types of industrial paints, including asphalt, fibreglass, metal, plastic and wood – to name a few.

Different types of industrial paint

When it comes to painting your warehouse or factory, it’s imperative that you use the correct industrial paint. Unlike regular paint, industrial paint varies widely in regards to its chemical makeup.

Acrylic

A synthetic resin used in high-performance latex or water-based paints. It is suitable for bonding metal, oily surfaces, glass, ferrite, and plastics.

Epoxy

Used almost exclusively in aircraft components. They are more resistant to environmental degradation than resins such as alkyds, which are typically used only in trim paints.

Inorganic or Silicate

Uses titanium dioxide as an extender pigment.

Polyester

Typically unsaturated and used in marine applications.

Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE)

A family of engineering plastics that are characterised by high thermal stability, almost universal chemical resistance, and low friction.

Polyurethane

Includes a tough, rubber-like elastomer that is based on the condensation of organic isocyanides with resins containing hydroxyl groups.

Different features of industrial paint

Industrial paint can be imbued with a number of different features, such as:

Anti-static or conductive

Capable of withstanding high temperatures

Elastomeric – (suitable for expanding substrates)

Electro-resistive – (both conductive and nonconductive)

Fire retardant

Heat resistant

Interior or exterior

Rust preventive

Suitable for touch-up coatings
